Info from Mrs. Elkins, Hopkins Co Schools, Director of Human Resources (12 March 2020)-
I wanted to update you on a state change with background checks. There has now been a change in how the Child Abuse and Neglect background checks have to be completed as the state has just now moved to an online format. Parents will need to call our offices first so that we can determine if they need to come in or if we can email them the needed information. With this move to online that the state has now put in place, the parent will have to create their own account and results come directly back to them. We will then ask them to forward all information to us so that we can provide clearance to the school.
Please ask any parents that are needing a background check to give us a call so we can figure out if they need to come in or not. If they have an initial Administrative Office of the Courts background run already, we will be able to email them what they need to do for the CAN check and they not have to come in. However, If they have not had an AOC, then they will have to come in to see us to complete that portion. Since we work by appointment due to employee processing, this will help us in not keeping parents waiting for us. They can call 270-825-6000 and ask to speak with me or Kaylie Adcock and we will be happy to assist!
